CONGOMA Holds NGO Week 2015

CONGOMA held the 4th NGO exhibition called NGO Week under the theme ‘Partnerships for mutual accountability and sustainable development results’. The event which took place from 18th -19th November 2015 at Cross Roads Hotel in Lilongwe in collaboration with NGO Board of Malawi and its 750 member NGOs had Honorable Patricia Kaliati Minister of Gender, Children, Disability and Social Welfare as the Guest of Honor.

NGO WEEK3The flagship event gave NGOs an opportunity to showcase their development contribution to the nation in terms of services they provide to the people in different sectors, technologies being promoted, infrastructure being constructed among many. The NGO WEEK also gave a chance to the general public, Government, Development Partners and the Private sector to strengthen partnerships, learning and cooperation for a concerted contribution to national development agenda.

Among other interesting activities, there were displays by almost 50 NGOs in different sectors, Private sector displays, live presentations of issues in different sectors and recommendations and live performance by Kwacha cultural troop. The outcomes from the NGO Week as refined and re-affirmed by the AGM will form the basis of issues to engage His Excellency the President of the Republic of Malawi as a contribution of NGOs to national development.
