CONGOMA Trains Its Member Organizations in Theory of Change and Finance for Non-Finance Managers

 

With the mandate of Capacity Building for its member NGOs CONGOMA from 5th to 8th December and 7th to 9th December held trainings in Finance for Non-Finance Managers and Theory of Change (TOC) respectively with the aim of building the capacity of its member organizations.

The Finance for Non-Finance Managers was aimed at orienting the managers at how to interpret financial statement, budget tracking and understanding the balance sheet. The Four days training was done by Malawi College of Accountancy in collaboration with CONGOMA.

On the other hand Theory of Change training was handled by Malawi Institute of Management. With the objective of explaining the meaning of TOC in relation to project management; apply TOC in projects to enhance monitoring and evaluation; draw TOC for projects and institutional strategies; the course content included overview of project management (Iron Triangle, Project cycle Management, 4D Model), introduction to TOC, Development of TOC (Pre-conditions, Pathways), Phases of TOC and Practicing TOC using existing projects in organization.

Participants were awarded certificates of attendance. CONGOMA is an umbrella body of over 800 NGOs operating in Malawi with the mandate of facilitating Coordination and Networking amongst NGOs, ensuring a conducive environment in which NGOs can operate and filling the capacity gaps of its member NGOs.
