NGO Week 2015; 26th-30th October

Partnerships for mutual accountability and sustainable development results.

The Council for NGOs in Malawi (CONGOMA) with a mission to provide a sharing and reflection platform for NGOs to influence governance and development processes in Malawi is organizing yet another NGO WEEK from 26-30 October 2015 at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe in collaboration with its 750 member NGOs. His Excellency, Prof. Arthur Peter Mutharika, President of the Republic of Malawi is expected to grace the occasion. The theme for this years event is: Partnerships for mutual accountability and sustainable development results.

The NGO WEEK is a flagship event which gives an opportunity to NGOs to showcase their contribution to national development in terms of services they provide to the people in different sectors, technologies being promoted, infrastructure being constructed among many. On the rights side, the NGO WEEK gives chance to the general public, Government, Development Partners and the Private sector to strengthen partnerships, learning and cooperation for a concerted contribution to national development agenda.

Some of the events during the week will be displays by NGOs and stakeholders; live presentations of policy briefs by Sector Networks on selected public policy areas including economy; health; HIV/AIDS; gender; elections; mining; environment and climate change; NGO operating environment; Agriculture and food security, human rights and governance; children and youth; disability and the elderly; media; natural disasters and a variety of entertainment including performances by popular musicians and bands.

With the foregoing, CONGOMA calls upon:

  • The general public to patronize the event in their large numbers
  • NGOs, Civil Society and privates sector that want to put up displays to contact CONGOMA
  • Well wishers to contribute funds; supplies like food, beverages; sponsor event cloth; provide facilities and services like cleaning, decoration and security among many, towards the holding of the event by contacting CONGOMA.
