Henwood Foundation in Improved sanitation, shelter and Capacity building – JOMBO CAMP in Chikwawa District.

With funding from NAK-karitatic, a New Apostolic Church NGO based in Dortmund Germany, Henwood foundation in partnership with New Apostolic Church Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe have improved sanitation, shelter and capacity building of the inhabitants of Jombo Camp and

its surrounding villages.

Jombo Camp in Chikwawa district is a resettlement area provided by the Government of Malawi for flood victims that were ready to settle on the upper and dry land.  The camp has approximately 368 households of which 165 are in the surrounding villages.

In September 2015, Henwood Foundation made an assessment of the situation at Jombo Camp and   recommended the purchase and donation of hoes with handles, brick moulds, drilling of a borehole and donation of tarpaulins.

prove sanitation for 368 households, renovate shelter for 368 households and build capacity of 368 households in moulding bricks and constructing houses.

Jombo camp now has better shelter, good toilets and a borehole providing potable water for the camp community and surrounding villages. Jombo Camp Rehabilitation Project closed on 19th May 2016.presided over by the Reverend Arnold Mhango of the New Apostolic Church and the Chikwawa District commissioner.
